Colorado handles probate a little differently than many states. In every county except Denver, probate matters are heard by the regular District Court; there is no separate probate court. Denver is the one exception: the Colorado Constitution created a dedicated Denver Probate Court that hears probate matters exclusively for Denver County.

Colorado’s only standalone probate court, hearing probate, trust, guardianship, and conservatorship matters exclusively for Denver County.
2nd Judicial District: Denver County only
In each of these counties, probate matters are handled by the District Court’s general docket rather than a separate probate division.
